PSP Selection Criteria and Team Reponsibilities

The following three sections describe how applicants are assessed in their responses to the “Volunteering With Project Survival Pacific” section of the online application form, and the general responsibilities and requirements involved in being a PSP team member.

Membership Selection Criteria

In the “Membership Selection Criteria” field of the online application form applicants should state whether they can make the following minimum commitment and how they meet the selection criteria.

Minimum Commitment of Members

The following minimum commitment is expected of all PSP members. Members in official position have increased time commitments as specified in their position description.

•An average of 4 hours work on the project each week (flexible – see position descriptions below for actual time commitments required).
•Making every effort to attend either a 1 hour Skype meeting or a face-to-face meeting once a fortnight and obtaining an update from their team coordinator if they miss a meeting.
•Checking and, if necessary, replying to emails at least every 3 days.
•Informing their team coordinator of their PSP related activities once a week.
•Completing tasks in the agreed time frame and advising their coordinator when this won’t be possible.
•Maintaining the above commitments until one year from the date of joining PSP

Please be aware that if during your involvement your committments cannot be met after negotiation we will reconsider your involvement. If you cannot make the above commitment but would still like to be involved in the project please email pen.ward@youthclimatecoalition.org.

Selection Criteria

All applicants must address the following necessary selection criteria. Desirable selection criteria will also be taken into account. Practical examples of how the applicant addresses each selection criteria should be provided if possible.

Necessary
•Ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team environment
•Ability to work independently with minimal instruction
•Strong communication skills
•Ability to take initiative and self motivate in a team
•Ability to work comfortably in a multicultural team environment
•Ability to work well in a complex, changing environment
•Interest and knowledge in social and environmental issues
•Ability to work to deadlines
•Comfortable with computers and internet communication technologies
•Access to the internet
•Demonstrated enthusiasm for the project

Desirable
•Knowledge and experience of the Pacific
•Previous experience in community activities (Desirable but not mandatory)
•Proven leadership skills (consider applying for a Team Coordinator role)
